Troubleshooting Your Check Scanner (Physical Issues and 127.0.0.1 Error)
Please try the following steps as these will often fix most issues with your physical check scanner:
- Unplug the power source to the scanner
- Clear your cache/cookies in Google Chrome (there is an additional help article on how to do this)
- Restart your computer
- Plug the power back in to the scanner.
- Move the USB cable coming out of the check scanner into a different USB port on your computer.
The steps above work for troubleshooting a physical issue with your check scanner, but the issue can sometimes be with the software.
When going to your banking website, do you see either one of the errors below? If so - they both have an easy fix!
See screenshots below on how to fix this error.
To bypass this message, click the 3rd option: "The scanner driver is working as expected"
For the 127.0.0.1 Error:
Step 1: Click on the Windows logo in the bottom left hand corner of your screen

Step 2: Scroll down until you see "Passport Web Edition Client" and click on the folder.

Step 3: Click on "Restart WebClient Driver"

Step 4: That's it! Your website should automatically reload after a minute or two, but you may need to restart your browser.
If you are still experiencing issues after trying all of the steps above, please put in an IT ticket and mention that you've used this article to troubleshoot to move your ticket along faster.
