Adding "Always Show From" to your Outlook
Now that your leasing email is a "shared mailbox", it can no longer send emails out (just receive them).
Because of this, all emails must be sent from the personalized email address of the person sending them (ex: jane.doe@southwoodrealty.com).
To change the "From" address, follow the instructions below.
First, you need to set it up so Outlook will always show you the "From" email address.
To do this, click on the gear icon in the upper right hand corner of your Outlook software.

Once you're in Settings, you will click on "Mail" and then "Compose and reply."

Then you will check the "Always show From" box.

***Here's where things get a little weird. Outlook will often require you to do this TWO times. Don't ask why...we don't know. That's just how Microsoft is sometimes. If you don't have to do it twice, you may want to go out and buy a lottery ticket! Either way, to confirm that your "Always show From" setting stuck, you will need to:
- Close Outlook
- Reopen Outlook
- Go back to the settings icon in the first screenshot above and repeat the steps.
- If "Always show From" is still not checked, then check it again.
- Then, close Outlook again and reopen...again.
- This time, when you click on "New mail", you should see the "From:" address next to the blue "Send" button.
- If the "From" address is your main leasing email, just click on it and change it to your personal email.
- That's it! Just remember to do this for all emails sent to your shared property mailbox to make sure your emails will be sent.
